Latin name : Averrhoa carambola
Most commonly known as the star fruit, the carambola is the fruit of the Averrhoa carambola tree which is cultivated throughout the tropics for its exotic fruit.
Distinct in both taste and appearance both the waxy skin and the fleshy centre of this fruit can be eaten fresh.
The fruit is extremely easy to identify as all star-fruits have definitive ridges running down their sides which when cross-sectioned resemble a star.
