All About Cherry (Sour)

Latin name : Prunus cerasus L

Indicative of its taste, the sour cherry contains high levels of natural acid and grows in two varieties.

The dark red morello cherry and the lighter-red amarelle cherry are native to much of Europe and South West Asia.

The sour cherry is often used in combination with sugar which balances the acidity and brings out the fruit’s flavour.

In contrast to their sweet counterpart the sour cherry requires high levels of nitrogen and water to mature into a consumable fruit.
