Latin name : Mangifera indica L.
Native to India the mango comes in a wide variety of shapes and colours and is believed to be the most cultivated tropical fruit of the world.
The Alphonso mango is rich and sweet in flavour and in India, this particular variety is referred to as ‘The King of the Mangos’ as it is considered to be sweeter and juicier than other mango varieties.
The golden yellow pulp of the mango is perfectly suited for manufacturing into juices and is widely used in juice blends.
In Australia the mango is considered to be a symbol of summer.
